Marengo enjoys its location as having one of the best access to multi-mode transportation systems in McHenry County. We have two state highways, IL-176 and IL- 23, as well as US Highway 20 which intersect within city limits. Interstate 90, which links Chicago to Rockford, is 7 miles to our south and I-43 and I-39 are less than 30 miles away. In addition, the Union Pacific Rail Road runs within our boarders. Residents of the local area can dial a ride from PACE to take them to local places of work, recreation, family and friends for extremely low fairs. Currently METRA is in a Phase 1 study to extend services into Marengo.
